Recent app upgrade issues

With the recent app update, they made it so a host can’t block their own dates in advance if the dates aren’t available. Which of course will cause issues for when it automatically becomes available. For example, we have it set so people can’t book more than 6 months out. However, I’d like to still go in and block my personal dates for next summer. The app now doesn’t allow this as of the most recent update. There’s no toggle and no save button. Any work arounds?

Hi @Alicia1038 & @Sybe

Lots of Hosts experiencing the same problem. @Mike-And-Jane0 found the easiest way to do this is by turning on Pro Tools and using the multicalendar (not the regular calendar) to block future dates. You can use the other method also, but it seems to be a bit more work (probably best to turn off Instant Book if changing the availability window further out, blocking, then resetting to your 3month window). Using Pro Tools and the multicalendar, you wouldn't need to to that. I re-posted their solution below:

Looks like the ability to block dates past a 3 month window (or any availability; 6mos, 9mos 12mos) are only available if you have Pro Tools turned on and use the multicalendar to block dates past your window (you can't use the standard calendar).

Since all Hosts can use Pro Tools now (used to be only if you had 6 or more listings), that appears to be the solution for everyone now. Even if you only use Pro Tools and the multicalendar to accomplish blocking dates past your window, it would be a real time-saver and definitely worth doing it.

Here is what your choices are using the multi-calendar:

Hi @Alicia1038 ! I've seen this be discussed in other posts as well, for example here: https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Ask-about-your-listing/Changes-to-Blocked-Calendar-Dates/m-p/178...

I did read about this workaround on the Dutch language CC: if you usually have it set to 3 months in advance for example, you can switch to 6 months and block any dates past the 3 months, and then switch back to 3 months again.

Hi @Sybe !

I was not aware that using Pro Tools to fix the unblocking issue was even an option, as I was using Pro Tools all along and always used the multicalendar to block/unblock dates. It was @Mike-And-Jane0 that pointed out that they weren't able to use the regular calendar anymore, but were able to use the multicalendar to resolve this issue. 😊. I had also suggested using "unavailable by default" in calendar settings (this also works), then manually unblocking what you want, but @Mike-And-Jane0 's idea is just easier for sure!

@Joan2709 I don't think this works in the app - only in the website version of Airbnb.

Good point! I rarely use the App, but many do!
