Hello,

I'm a host and I'm noticing a decline in the amount of guests who leave reviews. Has anyone else been having this experience? It would be great if it were compulsory to post a review each time for both parties I think. Reviews are the cornerstone of Airbnb in my experience. Without them we have no regulation. Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks!

Mariana

Thanks for your thoughts.

I hear what you are saying but it is easy to write a reasonable review with 4 - 5 stars & give private feedback for either the guest or the host to help them either be a better guest or host. I have encouraged hosts & guests to write a review afterwards.

Hello @Mariana758 ,

I beg to differ. Some guests do not leave a review because they are kind and do not want to hurt the host, knowing that anything below 5 stars is considered bad.

You can encourage your guests to write a review in a message after they check out.

In my opinion, it is not a good idea to force someone to do it, because it will not necessarily bring better results.

Instead, focus on creating such a special and unique stay that your guests cannot wait to share it with others and want to publicly thank you again.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Totally agree with @Guy991  and some of the other sentiments shown.

After getting rave reviews from the start, 2 back to back guests did not leave a review, which is very hurtful 😞 and discouraging, especially after the effort that goes into their stay, strangely, they were also the only 2 guests I had even bought fresh flowers 🌺 🌹 for them!

I do encourage the reviews, but I don't push the matter if they are not bothered which I find very inconsiderate.

Hi @Mariana758 Some just forget or don’t prioritize writing a review after their trip or others simply aren’t review-type people, even if they enjoyed their stay.

Thanks. I totally agree. Your thoughts help a lot.

Hi @Mariana758 😊

Thank you for asking this here!

It’s great to encourage guests to write a review.

Did they do so after your suggestion, or not really?

I agree!  I find it very frustrating when I go to the trouble of leaving positive reviews and get nothing in return.  Its not as if it takes alot of time to complete a review.
