What listing/calendar settings are needed to permit same-day turnovers (to allow a booking for a stay that starts on the same day that an existing booking ends)?

I've been experiencing problems with dates being unavailable for a couple of weeks now.  For one case, the last two dates of five open were marked unavailable (not blocked) and I had a guest book the three nights.  The guest wanted to extend two nights and attempted to do so and said she was only able to select one additional night; when I tried (as host) I was able to select both nights and change the booking accordingly (I think via the app, can't remember).  So in that case, even though the the website calendar grayed the dates and showed them as unavailable they were bookable (at least via changing the booking end date as host).

913-3.pngIf I drop minimum nights to 2, Oct 2+3 open up which makes sense with the theory that Oct 4 is unavailable (for whatever reason).

But I've got Oct 10-12 showing unavailable (-Oct 9 and Oct 13- are blocked) and only Oct 10 shows "Minimum stay".  If for that period I drop minimum nights to 2 and attempt to open Oct 10-12 all remain unavailable; if I drop minimum nights to 1 and attempt the same only Oct 10 opens.

I referred this behavior to airbnb support several days ago and they said they played around with it and escalated and referred it to their engineers who are doing an investigation, so if that's true maybe there's a system fault (although I would think that if that was the case that others would be experiencing the problem and reporting it).  I was told to use the web client instead of the app and to be patient.
