@Karen1434 Hi Karen 😊 I am all about automation however this is one thing that I would not have automated. I want my unit security in my custody, care and control. Simple as that.
I have smart locks on all units and use the Yale Assure locks. I also use a Hub with them all called Ezlo formerly Vera. I have been using these locks with the Vera hub for at least 10 years without incident other than if a lock battery dies and that is not a lock problem and have spare keys mounted to the house in a lock box that will open the door if this happens.
With this hub, you have the ability to add and delete codes as well as make codes active at certain times and delete at check out.
This works off of an app. I have all units set up in the app. When a booking comes in, I add their code to the app and save. When they leave, I delete the code. It does not take long at all, seconds to complete.
Maybe someone here has a work around to the Airbnb lock automation.
The alternative would be to remove the coded lock from the back door and use a deabolt to lock that door. A deadbolt that you need a key to lock and unlock. Guests will just use the coded lock door and the back door can be a back up with key in lock box if needed.
