Showing up in 'golfing' category but listing is not near or related to golfing

Hi!

My new listing is showing up in the golfing category.

But I'm not near a golf course or have anything related to golfing on my listing.

Any idea how to get this changed?

@Rachel3322

Ahh...the infamous categories. Guests loved them but lots of issues for Hosts with Listings placed in the wrong categories and/or denied categories they should be in. Categories were another AI driven feature (Elevate) that was never developed properly and Airbnb removed Categories in April 2025 as far as guests searching using them.

However, Listings are still showing categories internally and Airbnb has not removed them from the Listing Editor. At some point Airbnb might use the data to create search filters for guests in the future, but they haven't yet:

To request a category be removed:

1. Login to your Airbnb account

2. Type in browser: https://elevate.translated.com/categories

3. Request Golfing be removed by clicking the "X" next to it

Super helpful (again) - thank you Joan!

Hi @Rachel3322

If your property is close to a golf course or driving range (even within a few kilometers), Airbnb’s algorithm may automatically tag it as part of the Golfing category.

This is meant to help travelers searching for stays near golf destinations find your place more easily.

If you feel that the Golfing category is misleading or doesn’t represent your place accurately send a quick message via the Host support chat in the app.

Hah that's what's weird - I'm nowhere near a golf course 😛

@Rachel3322

I believe it is a bug left over from Airbnb removed categories in April 2025. Other Hosts have reported the same thing; they created a new listing and were placed in the Golfing category although nowhere near a golf course.

Hi @Rachel3322

Congratulations on your new listing!

Have you had a chance to try to follow either Joan or Patricia's advice yet, to get this category information corrected?

Let us know how you get on please 🙂

Thanks,

Emilie
