Terrible Airbnb

So, I booked this room inside a house in Montevideo for two weeks. First red flag: they took several hours to respond to any kind of message.

Once I arrived, I got the instructions through WhatsApp (second red flag).

That I will be staying in a different room because they are making some fixing with painting and cosmetic issues. I told them right away "If is dusty, I can't be there. I am extremely allergic".

I arrive, one of the guests received me and what I see is practically an abandoned house with people hiding in rooms.

All windows open and the dust and dirt coming from the street was everywhere. Once I found the temporary room, was terrible. Mold and dust. With an open window, no shades. I couldn't stay there.

I call Airbnb immediately and shared the pictures while I was there and waiting for my taxi to take me out asap.

The lady offered me a discount for something else. I told her no, I want my money back, I need to be out of here right now, before I got terribly sick.

4 days later, I have no signs of Airbnb or whatever and I am $250 short.

This will be my last time with these platform. I learned my lesson.

@Alejandro2066 The only positive that hosts can take from your experience is that Airbnb treats hosts and guests equally badly when things go wrong. I would love to see Airbnb take customer service seriously but fear it is a pipe dream. I would go to the small claims court if Airbnb or your payment provider does not refund you.
