Unknown person listing my house and airbnb refuse to remove it

Hi,

It is a disgrace and dishonor behind this company, that  now has a score if 1.3 on Trustpilot (18000+ reviews).

I have contacted airbnb via email, their contact form and phone, just to receive a conversation in bad English with an individual that did not understand my very simple questions and suggestions.

So i had to ask the police for assistance in removing the listing of my house, which someone has listed.

This house is my private property and i do not rent it to anyone.

Still. It is listed. Causing guests to be scammed. Causing me to have unknown and angry visitors.

Why are Airbnb still in for this?

I will continue writing here so other people can see how the airbnb support handle this (to me) serious situation.

It is not okay letting someone list your house for rent then just ignore or almost make fun of the complaints.

I have contacted the support via phone, email and reported the listing. I have filed a police report (i live in Sweden). I will also contact konsumentverket to have them remove my house from their site.

WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN IF A GUEST BOOKS MY HOUSE JUST TO REALIZE THAT WHEN THEY ENTER IT THEY ARE ACTUALLY COMMITING BURGLARY ????

I MIGHT ASWELL KILL THE INTRUDER  IF I SEE SOMEONE IN MY HOUSE OR BED.  GET IT?

New mail from airbnb:

"

I apologize for the inconvenience this has actually brought to you. However, we still can't proceed on removing the listing without any confirmation from the account owner.

Kind regards,

Airbnb Support"

There you have it. The reason why i will sue this ******ty company, driven by complete ******.

As long is i live i will spread this True Story to everyone i meet. Both in real life and online.

TLDR; AIRBNB LISTS MY PRIVATE HOME FOR RENT, WHEN IT IS NOT!

This is an assault on me as person and causing great risks.

My answer to their insulting mail:

"An apoloogy is not enough. The account holder is MISSING as i wrote.

Remove my private home from your site immediately. IT IS NOT FOR RENT. Otherwise I have to sue you because of this.

/ John "

Airbnb are lying of course they can @John8881 @not much help I know .

Hi Helen3,

Thanks for your message! 🙂 It helps me knowing other see the obvious aswell. They are kind of bullying me. But i  definitely do not deserve this. I have been polite and concrete in my communication with them since day 1 about this problem.

Actually, one do not need to be a scientist to understand that they are way out and wrong. They are handling this serious matter respectlessly and irresponsible.

So in the future when there is someone talking about renting houses I will obviously always Not recommend these dangerous fools and scammers.

Even if i might missed a number in the Trustpilot reviews I think they should not even be allowed to be online. They should be banned and perhaps in jail. There are thousands of people who has not received their money when renting homes, etc. Just read the reviews there!! I am absolutely not alone having really bad experiences with these lunatics.

I Will go to newspapers later on, because this story may be interesting for others aswell.

I Will sue them. Perhaps they will pay me for their actions. Which is reasonable for a reasonable mind.

Lets just pray that someone not breaks into my home.. .. .

So a new mail from the airbnb 'support':

"Hi John,

Thank you for contacting Airbnb.

We encourage you to communicate directly with the Host to address this type of complaint.

As an online platform, Airbnb does not own, operate, manage or control accommodations, nor do we verify private contract terms or arbitrate complaints from third parties.

We can pass along these requests to the Host.

If you would prefer to go through Airbnb’s formal Host notification process to share your request and information with the Host, please reply to this email with a link to the Airbnb listing and a scanned copy of a letter that details your specific requests. The letter should include your contact information.

If we don't hear from you within the next 48 hours, we will understand that you no longer wish to proceed or you have withdrawn your request. You may reach out to us again should you wish to pursue your request at a later time.

Kind regards,

Airbnbs kundtjänst"

I wrote this as reply (translated from Swedish):

"

But don't you understand that the host is not answering??? The Swedish Tax Agency has removed her address from the house and her husband is listed as an emigrant. The whole family has probably moved abroad.

I bought the house via the Swedish Enforcement Authority on 2025-01-16. THE HOST THAT YOU HAVE ON YOUR SIDE DOES NOT OWN THE HOUSE AND HAS NO ACCESS TO IT.

You might have better luck if you contact her so PLEASE CONTACT HER. SHE IS NOT ANSWERING.

Please read here: https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Ask-about-your-listing/Unknown-person-listing-my-house-and-airbn...

I will contact a lawyer."

Insane

So.  They asked me to report it again. I wrote i already have reported it at least 5 times. I asked where i can my mail my documents to prove i own the house (köpebevis), my id, etc

Here are their (probably final) mail:

"

So the problem is absolutely not solved.

Airbnb ignored my requests and responded in very disrespectful ways.

They still list my house for rent, allowing people to book it.

I own the house, offered to send them all legal documents to prove it and i have never put the house out for rent.

Tip to everyone: Never use their services. They are seriously bad!

@John8881

Did you have a renter that then sublet the property by listing it on Airbnb without your consent?

If not, then why don't you go the property and change the locks?

Thanks for the tip. The locks are already changed by the The Enforcement Authority (kronofogden) who sold the house to me.

It is most likely the previous owners wife who listed the house on airbnb. However, she is missing. Also the Swedish authorities can not reach her (i have spoken to kronofogden and skatteverket). Her husband was the registered owner of the house, he is listed as emigrated from Sweden. Also not reachable since around two years back. Due to his debts the kronofogden sold the house (to me).

I feel pity if someone books this, paying in advance. Since it clearly says on the booking page that there will be no refunds. It would be understandable if the supposed guest will be (very) angry, when they realize it is the scam it is. By airbnb.

Trustpilot reviews (on Swedish page) reveals that many other had similar experiences. People paying 8000 to 50000 sek, who never got their money back. And on top of it beeing harassed by the airbnb support. Just check it out for yourself.

The cost for one night for my house today is $202 (1950sek), for 1-5 persons. That is what airbnb will keep if someone books it.

This is not a good system/scheme by airbnb.

@John8881

So how are the Airbnb guests getting inside the property? They must have a key or a code to a smart lock.

I suggest you go to the property and change the locks again yourself so no one can enter the property.

There has not yet been an intrusion as far as i know. But i fear it can be a consequence if the ad keeps running.

Joan, Perhaps i should have formulated this meaning in another way:

"Still. It is listed. Causing guests to be scammed. Causing me to have unknown and angry visitors."

The consequence of airbnb listing this house will be this. That is what can come out of it. That is the meaning.

14/4 i wrote: "To clearify: Your question about whether or not someone is at my property right now is irrelevant, that is not a part of the current situation."

Several times i have described the Problem, for example, also 14/4:

"I will try to describe my problem again:1 Someone is listing my house as if it was for rent (may be the previous owner). The house is Not for rent."

And the simple solution would obviously be airbnb removing the listing, since i have all legal documents for the house.

Still. People do Not understand what is the problem?. Yeah. You mark my words, right.
