I own a US-based small business and have customers all over the world. I developed a group of customer fans in Southeast Asia and had the opportunity to travel and stay there and meet with them. It made me realize how we are all connected across the globe -- and I loved learning about their culture and why they love my products. It was a really cool travel experience!

Hello! I became aware of this community when you invited me to share a holiday story. I was delighted to contribute.

This year feels like a gradual return to pre-pandemic holidays, with folks getting together, and feeling safer to do so.

Iโ€™m still adjusting; itโ€™s not yet 100% comfortable for me to be in small spaces with lots of peopleโ€ฆespecially close talkers. Iโ€™m managing my comfort level and getting out more this winter, even though itโ€™s prime time for colds.

Sending warm wishes to you and all for a people-y holiday season!

Hi Quincy,

I love this Community Center, though it could be an all day job responding to all the questions placed out there. ๐Ÿ™‚

I found myself initially searching for some helpful specific questions  & looking for answers to those. I tried the FB group (just my own opinion) and feel not as warm as this group and way too many repeat of the same questions/answers.

I have been a host for just over 10 months. and found the Community Center by the AirBnB App. nudging this group towards my direction as my questions drilled down to specific questions about my listing. (directions attached below)

I met Sybe, Paula then you straightaway. I was struggling on just following the basic directions!

I have found that this group is supportive, I think of so many as members  as friends and was given a lot of encouragement.

Maybe disappointing to a point, I see a frequent repeat questions where if one took the time in the search bar they would find the answer quicker than just asking the group. It reminds me when asking a questions to my parents regarding spelling of a  word or schooling & my parents would say get a dictionary and look it up or get the encyclopedia and look it up. With that said, I have learned so much from questions that appeared to be new problems/concerns and learned so much just reading all the responses from such knowledgable people who already 'walked the path'.  I also learned that when one is starting this path do your research. It doesn't happen overnight and took me 3 months before I open my listing.

Best though worst experience was during my 10 months I was having many personal issues popping up and I must say the warmth & support of the CM's was something I will never forget. I had to keep my AirBnB going as they say in Hollywood "On With the Show!" and I'm glad I did though exhausting as it was. For those reading this here is my link from Sybe below about Critiquing one's listing. It is an invaluable tool.

https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Ask-about-your-listing/How-to-ask-for-listing-critique-on-the-Co.... This post outlines how you could format and structure your post, and all you need to do then is post it on the "Advice on your space" board.

Happy Holidays to all!

Very warm regards,

Bettye6

Thank you Paula!,

Of course there is never a dumb question but the repetition of some very basic questions? Example: I had to Goggle 'ProTools' as I had no clue what that meant though

Google sent to me right to the Community page and presto! I was already doing exactly what I didn't even now I was doing ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy the Holidays,

Bettye6

Actually I joined up with AIRBNB 3 months ago after bad experiences with long term renters and squatters in my rental, and decided to try AIRBNB as a short term stay venue,  hoping it was a solution to the types of renters who frequent my area.  I live in a very poor depressed crime ridden city.  I was raised here as a child and inherited the house in 2021.

So, when I signed up for AIRBNB I was clueless on how to operate my new business and reached out to others in the community center to enlighten me so hopefully I could avoid making the same mistakes with guests as I did with renters in my home.

Sofar, I have had 2 guests.  The first guest was awesome.  The second has proved to be the same type of people that my long term squatters were.  I have found myself in another unpredictable situation with people taking advantage of my kindness and they are AIRBNB guests.  Im not sure how things will turn out but Im grateful to the kind people who have encouraged me in our Community group.

It has been a great source of information and connection with others who do what I am venturing.  Thank you for having me!

 Happy Holidays!

The Airbnb CC became my go-to-resource for finding solutions to various challenges in my hosting journey. I encountered a small issue on the app and googled it and stumbled upon the community center. Not only did I find answers to my initial issue, but I also learned from the collective wisdom of fellow hosts.

Having gained valuable experience, I find joy in paying it forward. I actively participate in the community, sharing my own insights and solutions to help new hosts.. itโ€™s truly rewarding to be part of a supportive community ans contribute to the growth and success of others in the Airbnb hosting community.
