Cancellation Due To 3rd Party Booking

Hi Everyone. I have recently had to cancel a booking due to the person who's account was used to book the room was not going to be the guest.... I assume that this is against AirBnB rules, although I am not certain.....but it is certainly against my house rules! I never accept 3rd party bookings as I had a terrible experience many years ago with a 3rd party booking. Anyway AirBnB are now punishing me by blocking the cancelled dates and adding a cancellation to my performance status....what is your opinion on this? I find this unfair....what have I done wrong to deserve this punishment? I have followed the rules, it was the 'booker' who broke the rules.  Before you ask, yes it was an Instant Booking, and yes I have now turned Instant Book off. Thanks in advance

In such a case I usually let the support cancel the booking, without penalty for me.
