[Celebration] Starting as a New Host!

Hi Everyone!!

I am new to hosting and I was so nervous to publish my listing 😂!

Here is what I found out, if your intentions are good and you treat your guest better than how you would like to be treated… you will do just fine!!

I prepare our space as I would like to find it when I walk into an Airbnb (Clean, joyful, great energy, and beautiful decor!)! I have received positive and kind reviews and private messages from our guest about the space and our communication!

I hope to meet more great guests in the years to come!!

Can you share your favorite tip on how to provide a great hosting experience during the holidays?

Happy Holidays!!

Congratulations for your first guest and first positive review!

I also remember when I received Ivano and Marlene (my first ones) and how nervous I was!

Thankfully, they were so friendly and polite and made it easier. Also, they confirmed that I were in the right way hosting on Airbnb.

For me, communication is essential during the whole process, from the first message to the last one. Also, as you mentioned @Maylin15 , preparing the house and treat guests as you would like if you were traveling. Empathy and love ❤️

Regards from Tenerife and best wishes in your journey as host!

@Daniel1651 thank you so much!! I appreciate your kind words and your story!!  We all learn from each other right!! Happy Holidays to you and your family 🙂

Dear @Maylin15
Create a festive atmosphere with holiday decorations, offer seasonal treats, and provide local tips for holiday events. Ensure clear communication and a warm, welcoming space for guests to enjoy the holiday spirit.

Regards

Terry

@Ann72, may I say it looks picture book inviting, ol’ host Zoom friend!

On the other hand, we have had a heatwave alert for 21-24th December! Sunshine, the swimming pool and the air conditioning are all important to accompany the Christmas lunch! lol

@Maylin15, I’m so glad you are enjoying hosting. I’ve been hosting eight years and I think you need to find your authentic self in what you offer and how you present it. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but clean, functional and workable within the space. 🌻

Hi @Maylin15 ,

I have a daughter with the same name (different spelling)!

My wife and I like to provide a gift card to the local cafe at the end of the street. In the summer months, we'll give a larger amount as we charge more, but we find this goes a long way, especially if an unexpected event happens (for example, wifi goes down).

If you're looking for a tip specifically for the holiday, perhaps adding something holiday-specific, like peppermint candy, candy canes, would be a nice touch. We also try to meet our guests once during their stay and have a five-minute chat.

Your place looks lovely and see that you have snowshoes added, so looks like you're on the right track!

I'm going to use your gift card idea @Jason2389.  As a remote host it's hard to arrange things at the house for each new guest, but I have an idea of how to make it work with the farm market up the road that serves breakfast.

The snowshoes are at my listing lol - you can see that each entry here is written by a different person by the name and picture above each entry.

Hi @Maylin15 !

Welcome to the hosting adventure! Your enthusiasm is contagious, and it's so heartwarming to hear about your positive experiences with guests. Your approach of treating guests the way you'd like to be treated is spot on!

As for a favorite holiday hosting tip, I'd say adding a touch of festive charm to your space can work wonders. Maybe some holiday decorations, a small welcome note, or even a cozy seasonal scent can create a memorable and joyful atmosphere. It's those little details that make guests feel the holiday spirit and make their stay extra special.

Wishing you continued success and many more wonderful hosting experiences! Happy Holidays!
