Covid 19 Cancelation

I am rather upset about lack of payment because of Covid 19 cancelations

A house member tested positive for Covid 19 at the end of July therefore i had to cancel a couple of guests that were booked in. AirB@B told me that I would be fined $100 Dollars . assumed after quickly reading the automated message regarding this that the fine would be dropped because it was no fault of my own and because Covid 19 is a world wide Pandemic that has killed millions of people therefore seemed very unreasonable that airB@B  would fine me for keeping people as safe as I can.

Consequently I have not been payed for the next couple of guests who happened to have been rather hard work , lovely couple but quite needy.  I`m sure some hosts will recognise this experience.

I have decided to close my property to hosts early and will give a lot of thought about using airB@B  next year because of what they have done.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this experience and is not happy about it?

I don't think you'll find anyone out there who wouldn't be angry/unhappy about the situation you've found yourself in, @Cheryl768, but the fact remains - cancellations are Airbnb's absolute nemesis.

If you have the energy (and lots of time), try your luck at calling customer service and explaining the situation to them again.

@Cheryl768  This should have been covered by the EC policy, which states that cancellations, both for hosts and guests, are penalty free if you provide proof that someone has tested positive for Covid.

Find that policy wording and present  it. Most of the CS reps are useless and clueless-you have to feed them the information.
