Guest wanting to use my address for bank account

Hi

i have a guest coming over later in the year for 50 days, whilst she seeks work and looks for longer term accommodation 

She has recently approached me to ask if she can use my address to register for a bank account.

Has anybody else had this experience. On the one hand I appreciate that it can be hard when you move to another country to get all the admin sorted out without an address however on the other I don’t want it to affect my credit rating etc.

Hello Iain,

I had issues with this previously. Its nice that the guest is honest with you because my guest just exchanged his driving licence and applied for the bank account and then asked me to look out for the letter.

We never know who we are letting in and I think this is taking it a step too far 😞

@Iain118   I doubt the back will accept your address for opening a bank account.  Most likely they would require a lease agreement or a proof of ownership and in addition salary slips for the last 6 months or so, and probably much more.  In Norway you would need a social security number as well, something you cannot optain until you have a position and a work permit. Your own bank would know the ropes in detail.

Your guest should use the bank account from the home country until they have permanent housing and all other formalities in place.
