Interesting to see that some board members who haven't posted here since 2017 are suddenly posting multiple times. The cynic in me suggests that Airbnb have asked them to do so to find out what is going on in Airbnb land.
Perhaps they should have just invited some of the more prolific posters on the community centre to be on the advisory board!
Now I can't help thinking of this classic satire from my childhood (1958 actually, before I was born!) - Nothing changes!

Tagging tips @John5097 : - You only get 5 options in the drop-down list; recent posters on the thread, BUT you can tag anyone by typing in @+ Name & number - then the match should pop up! 🙂
@Bez8 As I mentioned elsewhere, most of the core issues come down to a basic lack of respect for hosts.
That is the core issue from which most of the other issues arise in my view. There needs to be a major shift in attitude and if that happened, many of the other issues would be easily resolved.
@Bez8 @ apologies Nutth0, I can't tag you for some reason. I doubt that Airbnb can be fixed for someone like me. I hosted for 2 years before the pandemic, then for the 3 summer months in 2020 when we had lower prevalence in the UK. Never full time, just when I did not want the flat for myself, family or friends, and could manage the work involved. It was always obvious to me, as a matter of logic and from media, including this forum, that there are risks involved in giving one's keys to a complete stranger. But luckily, most guests are, or were, well behaved, sensible people, and I was able to manage the few problems that arose. It seems to me, however, that over time, and especially in the disastrous period of cost cutting and revenue maximising for the sake of the IPO, Airbnb has enabled, and in effect trained, guests to be bad actors. I am not sure that I will dare to put the second home we love back on the site. I hope that other similar hosts will continue, however, because this is the type of space where I most like to stay, somewhere that is well equipped and comfortable because it is loved and used. I understand of course that this is not where the big money is, so no wonder Airbnb is becoming indistinguishable from other platforms (except in creating greater jeopardy for hosts!).
@Clare167 , I think we face a same situation. It was happen to me too as I think you are right the more company grow and number of huest is increasing ( including our list review grow ) we may face for a guest behaved somethings that can make we feel not comfortable.
I will say, if select the guest is your priority. Stick with guard up e.g. Do not use instant book, Pre-approve only guest that give you enough information that you ask. Or if you still want to use IB, request all tick box like an ID and only guest who got recommendations for other host. On-site ( you may need a team on that ) make sure the one who taking care your place capture an evidence for you to apple for Host Protection proglam if need.
That what we got from right now. I also host guests in my own house so I do except Airbnb to improve an safety to before we accept and make sure we got a fair protection if thing go bad.
Anymore suggestions is welcome, Airbnb may not action in every thing you want but the stuffs team is read all feedback in CC.
with respect,
Nutth
I agree with you. I've had similar experiences. Most of them were me letting my guard down due to the lack to bookings. We share our primary home with guests. I've noticed an overall decrease in guest "quality" if I can call it that. I think it's just newer guests on the platform and the increase in local travel. Throw in financial hardship and that is a recipe for more risk.
I really liked what @Nutth0 said and agree with it
Re the OP, - Do keep up @Mike-And-Jane0 ! - @Sarah977 said this days ago in response to @Bez8 on one of Fred Flinstone's rants! 😄
(Joke.... back in Take the Mick mode...)
@Bez8 bonjour
I do agree with @Sarah977 and @Ute42 and other senior hosts.
Your script is a plagiarism of the Airbnb marketing discourse.
To make it say by a host a just a system to convince newbies.
It is a well know method in ad.
To sell a product by normal people instead of a professional to look more sincere.
And you have been chosen exactly for that.
To preach the official marketing of Airbnb.
I have been chosen too so I know what it is.
You do believe in what you wrote and that’s what Airbnb wants.
The difference between you and me and many other hosts who thought that Airbnb was great is that we opened the eyes considering the gap about the size of the Pacific Ocean between the Airbnb marketing and the Airbnb behavior at all levels (legal, IT bugs, unfair decisions, lake of protection and support when there is a serious problem and even non collection of money without telling the host etc).
Airbnb is a good website to find a rental.
For the rest, it's just marketing which is their largest expenditure.
Not to promise anything is a good idea @Bez8 .
By the way, did Airbnb tell you that you are not the first board, club, delegation or whatever the new name?
Airbnb have been working that way for years meeting a bunch of selected hosts.
Friendly meetings. We love you and we will do a great job together linked to a marketing Airbnb employee.
The problem is it does not go further than the marketing service.
And now Airbnb is a listed company.
I worked in this area and I can tell you that host/supplier voice worth nothing compared to ratio and dividends.
Wall Street sharks are here to set the real priorities.
The only thing I expect is that sharks will oblige Airbnb to apply the reservation contract to avoid legal actions.
It would be a big step for hosts.
Bonjour!
I see this as a fresh start. Like I said in my previous post, I could be wrong. But more importantly I could also be right!
I agree with you on the demands and expectations of a publicly traded company (especially one of this size). I'm an avid investor and watch the markets closely, but I'm not a subject matter expert.
only time will tell. Time although a man made perception is ultimately the best reflection point.
Salut
The only thing I expect is that sharks will oblige Airbnb to apply the "reservation contract" to avoid legal actions.
It would be a big step for hosts.
Je vous demande an explication.... of reservation contract.... Do you mean that issues would be very much tightened up? A big step for Hosts? As in a beneficial one????? Many thanks for sharing your thoughts xx
Deviner vos penser (C'est juste???)
I agree that the best option is to maintain contact with Airbnb and explain them host opinions and needs.
But honestly they know them through the CC and Facebook.
To pretend that Airbnb is listening hosts. euh! That’s a joke.
Do it for 2 years until the next bunch of hosts.
You’ll have a good time with the other hosts and that’s it.
@Ann72 @Mike-And-Jane0 @Nathalie-Et-Gilles0 @John5097 @Debra300 and others
please tag all of your feedback as (HABF)
this way we can pull them up pretty quickly until the final communication process is finalized
have a great day/night
@Bez8 Did you mean to hashtag HABF, not tag HABF? If so, the hashtag option only exists when a host opens a new thread and is only available to the OP just that once. No-one posting in the body of that thread can hashtag such that it would be found on a search. The @HABF tag does not exist. Yet. But might be a good idea to get the CC mods or whoever to create an @HABF tag.
