An inquiry is made when a potential guest uses the "contact host" link on a listing, useally to ask a question. The guest is obliged to enter dates. But i recently heared from guests "when do i get my money back" ? Is Airbnb is also making a hold on a creditcard when an inquiry is made ?
IMO the treshold for just asking a question should not be that high !
BTW There is such "hold" when an booking request is submitted:
Why-was-a-hold-placed-on-my-payment-method-when-i-requested-to-book-a-reservation
@Emiel1 "IMO the treshold for just asking a question should not be that high"
Maybe it should be. $1 per question would be nice. Especially considering most Inquiries are asking for something that isn't offered. It might cut down on that, and if not, well, that's money in the bank for time wasted, lol.
I think the guest has mixed up reservation request with booking inquiry.
Only the first is binding, and the guest's credit card will be charged.

I have to admit: Even for experiences hosts (and guests) it's still hard to distinguish.
And I hope, that it didn't change, and an inquiry doesn't cause a credit card charge (besides of the mentioned 1 $...).
