Its DOGE or AirBnB but not both

To say that i would be disappointed if Joe Gebbia remains with the board and gets involved in DOGE would be an understatement. DOGE's approach does not align with the AirBnB community standards. Gebbia should resign from the Board as its a true conflict. Interacting honestly, combating hate, harassment and discrimination, and the privacy policies in place with AirBnB and those are not the DOGE approach. Gebbia=gotta go or people (hosts and and guests) will lessen and the stock price will drop. I, for one will never use AirBnB again if Gebbia remains and joins DOGE and I will ensure than none of my family members or friends book either.

I wondered about this when I heard the news.

 I have liked using the platform  but exploring options ... if many guests look elsewhere too, it will be harder to get bookings anyhow.

 I have great reviews ,superhost, but business was very slow this winter too 

   I'm glad to hear other hosts and guests reacting the same.

I appreciate this conversation as I have been an Airbnb host for 13 years. I will be seeking alternatives and as soon as I can move to the alternatives, I'm out of here. I will not support fascism.

Indeed. I took my property out of the platform and informed airbnb about the reason, not going to be part of a company that keeps quiet while one of its board members supports a white-supremacist government.

I agree that Musk is a disaster to our government, but I think that people are over reacting to Joe's decision to join DOGE. Are any of you aware that he has joined so he could make the Federal Retirement system more functional? Right now, the whole system runs on paper and it can take from 3 - 5 months for a retired federal employee to receive their first retirement check!

Joe is a very kind person. He has pledged to donate 1/2 of his wealth and so far has donated over $80,000,000. including $25 million to Mahala Foundation and $25 million to The Ocean Cleanup which is working on cleaning plastic out of the ocean! He also founded airbnb.org that provides free housing to disaster-displaced people -  to which we donate a percentage of our airbnb income to.
This urging people to boycott airbnb has hurt many hosts who depend on their income. We have been renting our cabin on airbnb almost full time since July 2009.  In the last month our reservation rate has dropped 80%. This is crazy - do you think Musk cares? My family and community does - we support our son-in-law who has ALS and is a major climate activist. And because of our airbnb income, we are able to house on our property 7 people who were homeless. How many 80 yr old vets do you know who can live in a cabin in a beautiful area for $300. a month?
Please folks - don't harm people who are doing good in the world just to express your disgust with Musk!

I'm not sure how I'm just now hearing about this.  We have a very successful rental with AirBnB and we are Superhosts but we absolutely will deactivate our listing and go somewhere else rather than support someone who supports muskrat and DOGE.

Ya... Why would we want doge having to do anything with Airbnb, wouldn't want any of these fraudulent scamming hosts to be stopped!!  Wouldn't want Airbnb to have to pay out to their hosts when things have gotten insane with guests, and the "host gaurentee" policy gets denied... 

I hope you don't think your promise of  your family or friends not booking is going to make a bit of difference to airbnb
