New Cancellation Policy for Hosts

New Cancellation Policy for Hosts

While I understand the reasoning behind the new host cancellation policy and penalties, I believe Airbnb should consider adding a 24 hour grace-period. I don't think a cancellation done within 24 hours of the booking is going to adversely affect the guests.  Everyone makes mistakes, and if a host catches it soon, I don't think we should be punished unless it's an ongoing problem.  It would be nice if they could give hosts at least one cancellation per year without penalty as long as it's done within 24 hours of the booking.

What are everyone else's thoughts?

@Lisa-and-Brigham0   One host cancellation is often enough to put a guest off from booking on Airbnb altogether, so it wouldn't really be to their advantage to make it that easy for hosts.

But I'm not sure it warrants a fine. Maybe the more appropriate consequence would be to block the host from using Instant Book for some period of time.

Well it depends on how soon the reservation will take place -- say if it's for the next couple days then a cancellation from host within 24 hours would certainly impact the guest. But if it's a month away probably not, but still depends on location. In Philadelphia a lot of times our listings get booked pretty early for some events or weekends.
