Hello everyone! ๐
Welcome to the Community Center! ๐ I'm @Bhumika , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca and @Elisa and we are thrilled to have you join us.
Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:
@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands ๐ณ๐ฑ I have been on the Community Center for 6+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling๐ฒ, playing footballโฝ, and travelling๐ . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.
@Bhumika : ๐ I was born in Gujarat, India ๐ฎ๐ณ , and shifted to Toronto, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ last year! ๐ท I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. ๐ When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.
@Paula : I am from Colombia ๐จ๐ด and currently living in British Columbia, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance ๐) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries ๐ and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking ๐ฒ and hiking ๐.
@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist ๐ฟ and like to minimise my impact on the planet ๐ as well as volunteering in my local community. I love sea swimming ๐ yoga on the beach ๐งโ and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! ๐
@Elisa : I was born in Italy ๐ฎ๐น and as a lover of unique experiencesโfrom exploring the streets of Rome๐ฎ๐น , Paris ๐ซ๐ท, and Toronto ๐จ๐ฆ to appreciating timeless art and cuisineโI'm here to blend the old with the new.
Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Warm regards,
Bhumika

Hi Everyone,
We are Mark and Ruth Anderson, two retirees who were born and raised in NY State, where we met, married, and had our two sons. Weโve been living in the southeast (Boca Raton, FL and Roswell GA) for more than 4 decades now โ and in GA for more than 30 years. Our boys grew up, married, blessed us with 7 grandchildren (and now one Great Grand) , and over time everyone moved to different states. We had been renting cabins in Fannin and Union counties since 2003, and dreamed of one day owning a cabin of our own, so in 2019 we made that dream come true! We purchased a 2 BR 2 BA cabin in Mineral Bluff GA, with the plan of using the cabin a couple of weekends a month. Before we knew it, we were there every weekend, and decided to sell our Roswell GA home and move to the mountains full time. We love our decision!
After we finished working on our cabin, we decided to look into buying another property (cabin) and making that cabin into a short term/vacation rental that would give others the same wonderfully relaxing experience that we always had when we visited the mountains.
When we found this cabin we knew it was the one! On our first visit here, some deer came running through the woods out back. Every time we visited after that, the same thing happened. So when we were deciding on a name for the cabin, Running Deer Cabin was the first thing we thought of!
Getting Running Deer into shape again was a lot of work, but so much fun! Every job we did made it come alive a little bit more! Searching for pieces to furnish it with, and decorate with, became our new hobby, and we were surprised at how the right items would just jump out at us when we went out searching for them.
Now we are ready to share it with others, and we hope they will love it, and become a regular visitor to this beautiful area!
Hello @Mark5779,
It's lovely to meet you, welcome to the community! It sounds like the mountains in Mineral Bluff stole your hearts, and I can understand why ... it looks stunning. ๐
How long did it take you to get the cabin ready?
Iโd love to hear more about the process, and see the before/after of your work there. You can start a new conversation by clicking here or using the "Post" button in the upper right corner (if youโre on a computer). I'm sure many people would be interested in reading the story of the Running Deer. ๐
Hi Everyone, I am Tenzia from Kenya. I am new in hosting but very positive, happy to start the business. In my free time, I like to watch movies and hike.
Hello @Tenzia1,
A huge welcome to the community! How are you finding being a host so far? ๐
Since you're new to hosting, Iโd suggest asking the Community for a listing critique. Itโs a great way to get helpful feedback from fellow hosts. You can learn more about how to request a critique by clicking here ๐
Hi Everyone,
Iโm Morgan, live in Hamilton, New Zealand and have used Airbnb for travelling for approx 10 years, but now venturing into Hosting and hoping to get as many tips and tricks as I would like to grow this into a business.
Hello @Morgan841,
Welcome to the community - 10 years of using Airbnb as a guest, you must have picked up a lot in that time that will be useful as you transition into hosting yourself! What are some of the top takeaways?
You're in the right place to get tons of tips, tricks and support from the wider community of hosts. I would recommend having a browse through the many boards we have here, or start a conversation by asking a question. ๐

Hi everyone!
My name is Rachel and I'm from Alaska, where I own and host a home. Last summer was my first time hosting with Airbnb and it was a blast!
During the winter, my house is rented full time and I live in Utah. I'm currently learning about and looking forward to cohosting in this area.
When I'm not hosting, I travel in my small RV with my two doggos and spend as much time outside as possible.
