I had to cancel a reservation because the host told me after I paid that the location is incorrect. It was in fact 10 to 15 minutes away on the other cost , a different town. So I requested to cancel before the trip. The host agreed. However then he said he does not know how to accept the reversal... etc. I contacted airbnb support . Host said he did too. but to no avail , nobody is getting back to my support query. I keep posting to the support team every day, but I might as well be talking to my wall. Now 8 days later, I still have not had a reply and I don't even get an acknowledgment that somebody will get back to me! Meanwhile the host is acting stupid and keeping my funds !! Is this the new Aibnb ? thank you for your money now good luck. Also I can only get 80% refund. This whole story is close to credit card fraud and Airbnb is just not caring at all.
If the host makes a mistake like this (providing wrong location of the accommodation) and the reservation did not have started yet, the host need to cancel the trip asap and you will receive a full refund.
Hi, Emiel, yes in the past in a similar case it was seamless. I asked the host to cancel. He said I need to ask for refund. I saw that the refund I can request is only 80% and so I contacted support. It was one of those bots, the bots told me a human will message me , but nobody messaged me . Not at the airbnb app, nor my email. No answer, even as of today. I keep messaging them that I need an answer; nothing! I have not even got confirmation on the 80% refund...
