Should I still pay fully if me and the landlord agree to make the stay shorter?

Should I still pay fully if me and the landlord agree to make the stay shorter?

I've a reservation with the cancellation policy of Long Term. I am in the 35th of 90 days long stay. I might need to leave early.

Cancellation policy says I gotta pay for the next 30 days and pay for the service fees. I might convince the landlord to shorten my stay, say 60 days.

Assuming he accepts that, if I click change my reservation and enter the new days will I still need to pay for the next 30 days after I leave? For instance, if we both agree to change it to 60 days, will Airbnb require me to pay for 60 days or 90 days?

Or can you tell me a better way of not paying for the last 30 days assuming that my landlord is OK?

Lmk if my question is not clear.

If you cancel the booking today you will have to pay for the next month as you have to give 39 days notice. @Omer140

Speak to the host first he May agree a higher refund if he gets a replacement booking.

The host is OK but this is his first time in Airbnb thus I need to tell him exactly what he should do.

In your suggestion I need to leave the apartment today, right? But I want to stay for the next 30 days so that I can leave at 65th day of my 95 nights stay. Currently I am in my 35th day. What is the best strategy here?

@Omer140 You should be able to shorten the stay and pay less BUT ONLY if the host agrees. Make sure any agreement is on the Airbnb messaging system and then raise a change booking request to go to the host.

Now host agrees. If I raise change booking request and host accepts through the system. I won't be charged for the days I removed, right?

@Omer140

You can make an adjustment to your booking and set a modified ending date. It depends on the notice period you give the host.

As your stay is in progress, if you make an amendment to your booking with a new end date that is at least 30 days or more in the future, you can make this change this yourself and without the need of host to approve the change.

Any other date that is less than 30 days notice of checkout, the host needs to approve or can reject the amendment you propose.

I'd like to double confirm: If I change my checkout date from 60 days later to 35 days later, I won't need confirmation of host and I'll be able to stay in the apartment during these 35 days, right?

Because in the link you refer, it says Please note that only your host can make any changes.

@Omer140 you will just be sending a change request, which your host will need to accept through the Airbnb system.

As you've already gotten them to agree, it should be quick and easy to get it completed. They just have to click accept and done.

The host will need to approve a change if:

  • It’s before the trip, but less than 30 days before the check-in date
  • The trip has started, but it’s less than 30 days before the checkout date
  • The guest is changing the check-in date, or extending the reservation

The change will happen automatically if:

  • It's before the trip and the reservation is still 30 days or longer
  • The trip has started, but it’s 30 days or more before the checkout date
