hello,
i know i'm not welcome in here. i've tried to get some answers in earlier, but the post got deleted within minutes.
yet still; i need to know: what happens when i don't agree to the enhanced cleaning protocol by 20th of November?
1) will my listings just be deleted/deactivated?
2) if not; in what way - and to what degree - will i be punished by the algorithms?
this is important information for me.
please don't delete my post again.
cheers,
Thor
@Thor6 You are very welcome here!
There's a lengthy thread in which I asked the same question: https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Hosting/COMPULSORY-enhanced-cleaning-protocol-unrealistic-for-ma...
The moderator @Katie is working on getting a response for us, and in the meantime there's quite a bit discussion among other hosts. One of them received a response from Customer Support suggesting that you won't be delisted and you can fulfill your existing bookings, but your calendar will be blocked from receiving any more bookings (basically the same as being indefinitely in "Snoozed" mode). Maybe that's how it'll go down in practice, maybe not - Airbnb is often inconsistent with how it applies its own policies.

@Thor6 @Anonymous Call me mercenary but I suspect it will depend on what proportion of hosts do not sign up. Less than 1% and I guess they will be dropped. Over 20% and they will be kept.
hello again.
thanks @Andre0. i wanted to give you a thumps up, but i see now that it was turned in to a song & dance "matter resolved" thing, which of course is far from the truth. issue isn't resolved, obviously. i'm sorry that i gave you a heads-up that turned into a circus. i can't undo it, unfortunately. lesson learned, 😕
my questions about the punishment for not signing on to cleaning 2.0 were a lot more detailed initially, in my first message. but it got deleted, and i understood then that i was stepping on sore toes. i assume i'll be kicked out then. that's a shame, really. i think i did a decent job as a host.
but never mind. thanks for the link. there's nothing there of any real value, but i like the initiative.
are there any real alternatives to AirBnb in Europe?
cheers,
Thor
I can't imagine your first post was deleted because "stepping on sore toes".
Theis community has some guidelines, so if you violated them, i guess the admin would have informed you about it. So maybe post the questions again in this thread !
indeed.
i've even tried to answer Em underneath here, but it's not published 😕
i wrote her a message, before writing this.
never mind.
have a nice weekend, and thanks for your concern.
cheers,
T.
As far as I can tell if hosts do not sign up for the ECP by November 20th you will be unable to accept any new reservations. I take this as your calendar will be blocked (guests unable to book) but existing reservations (those made before Nov. 20th) will proceed on the notion that the ECP will not be followed. What will happen, and what already is happening, is that hosts are signing up since it is so easy to check the box, and then carrying on as they always have. Some hosts in my area who signed up back in June are receiving horrible remarks on cleanliness (as they typically have) and their listings are still standing, bookings still coming and filling up their calendars. Whether or not Airbnb is going to buckle down on low cleanliness scores, I'm sure not.
thank you so much for your reply, @Emilia42 . it's really appreciated.
yes, this is a major concern: if anyone can "report" me not wearing a mask in my own home. it's gonna be very, very risky to have any guest here. in theory; anyone can ask for a full refund.
it's a big concern that it doesn't really matter if i actually wear a mask, or not. it's about what gets reported. and how i'm supposed to defend myself against any of it.
i know we all need to calm down and be grown-ups about this. but what do we do in the mean time, and who'll pay for it? that worries me, 😕
if i'm at all allowed to rent out, come 20th of November, obviously.
all the best. have a wonderful weekend, all of you.
cheers,
Thor
thanks, Emilia. it's appreciated.
let's say i have some thoughts on this.
have a nice weekend.
cheers,
T.
@Thor6 I did receive your first response and it looks like it has not posted here yet. I agree with everything you wrote. It's really all one big game, one party passing the blame onto another, etc. whether it makes sense or not. It's best to lay low and became a "good actor." Have a good weekend to you as well!
😕 this is absurd. i'm not a bad person. all i want is to rent out my spare bedroom.
i'm not angry. i haven't been swearing.
i just need to know how to deal with this, after the 20th of November.
yet still, i feel like an old and ugly James Dean in rubbish clothes.
there's a cause here, without a proper rebel.
