IF host or guest cancel shortly prior to arrival both parties can leave a review.. How can one review a listing, its cleanliness and if its accurate if they have never been at the iisting during the reserved period! yet airbnb ask people review and tell the truth. Anyone?
@Vaa0 Well of course no one can attest to the cleanliness or accuracy of a listing if they have never entered it.
The problem is that if a guest cancels the day of check in, Airbnb has no idea if the guest actually arrived, checked in, and then cancelled because they found it dirty or inaccurate. Or sometimes there are bad hosts who the guests can't manage to contact and find themselves at the listing but unable to get in.
The only thing guests who cancel before arrival could legitimately review is communication.
If a guest cancels before the host's check in time, I agree they shouldn't be able to leave a review. And Airbnb could and should create a function where when a guest checks in, both the host and guest have to click on something to indicate that the guest has indeed checked in.
so do i, and the host should not be able to review guest either (only on communication)
dear elena, this is wat the link says, experiences you can personally speak to, but i have not been able to leave a review of my guests (that cancelled) without having to rate him being clean) there is no option to skip that as far as i know.
If the host cancels a stay on or after the day of check-in (12:00 AM in the listing’s timezone), you will have the option to leave a review. If you choose to leave a review, be sure to follow our Review Policy and only rate and comment on relevant experiences which you can personally speak to. For example, you may have valuable feedback about poor communication, an issue at check-in, or difficulty getting to a listing. However, if you didn’t complete check-in, you may not have relevant feedback about the location, amenities, or value.
But guests do comment on all areas when they haven't checked in at the property and although AirBnB reps have it pointed out to them that there is no way that guests should be able to comment on cleanliness etc etc when they haven't set foot in the property, nothing is ever done and the rogue rating will trash your overall score for some time in the future.
Thanks, i posted it but i am sure they will change it
airbnb; Reviews that contain no relevant information about a host or guest, listing, or experience, the review will be removed.
reviews are suppose to help guest and host decide. If guest makes review of a place he has not been it can not be relevant and thus has to be removed.

@Helen3 There may be an innocent explanation BUT one of @Vincent245 and @Vaa0 do seem to have reviewed each other several times - Presumably to improve the rating of the property!
@Vaa0 , @Vincent245 , you say "reviews are suppose[d] to help host and guest decide."
Setting up multiple accounts in order to review yourself derails that completely.
You might want to lay low on this.
some homes are company owned or private owned and requires different accounts. Owners are allowed ot use each others homes, but as host i can take care of mulitple homes and that is why i use my real lastname. We also host communities in jungle who have no internet and not even ID but together with airbnb we made it work.. anyway lets hope our post lead to a special review button for guests who did not stay at at a listing. So this issue gets solved.
@Vincent245 Owners using each others' homes and then leaving reviews for each other seems like a pretty dodgy way to get multiple good reviews.
Seems fraudulent to me.
