Made a reservation approx. 1/1/2020. Travel in early June from US to Canada. In early May. contacted AIRBNB for refund as travel with COVID was a non-starter. Per their own site - I was entitled to cancel and receive a refund. But they deferred to Host cancellation policy. ??? Why - no answer. Host said no, could afford to refund my 50% deposit...bills to pay etc etc. NOt really my problem. We all face the same issue. Back and forth between the two. Just the run around. Now US / Canada border remains closed until after our trip would have been completed. Still no refund. Sad. Maybe hotels not such a bad idea after all.
@Mark3239 - do you try cancelling via the Airbnb site? If so you would have been presented with a flow from a 'coronavirus affected your trip?' (or words to that effect) drop-down which takes you though to a 'upload your documents' [to substantiate your claim for EC]. Did you try and cancel via another route, ie calling CS?
