Douglas County NV has updated the requirements for us to rent VHR’s. I need to be able to set a minimum age and retain a copy of the renters drivers license for two years. Is there a way to set a minimum age for the property? Do we have access to a renters drivers license or government ID or do we need to collect that on our own?
I’ve also messaged Airbnb help for an answer in the meantime.
Any other Douglas County NV VHR hosts please reach out!
@Serena388 Airbnb does not provide any built-in means to set a minimum age requirement or for you to see guests' IDs. In fact Airbnb's terms of service prohibit asking guests to send you their ID prior to check-in, unless you are legally required to do so, which is not clear from your post.
What you can do is enter the requirements in your house rules and your listing text, and enforce them yourself at booking. In your situation I would not use instant-booking.
Thanks for your response. Yes, it is a law for short term VHR’s in Douglas County, NV as of Sept 2021. Was hoping that Airbnb was going to make this a little easier to comply with like the other sites. Unfortunately looks like we will have to remove the instant book option so we can vet and confirm each guest. Otherwise we get fined! ~Serena
