I received an email purporting to be from an Airbnb Community Group for a meetup at the Raffles Hotel. It asked in two stages for clicking links, the second was to ask for my Airbnb check-in details. It looked dodgy, so I asked Airbnb support if it was legit. Their advice was naturally, don't click any links embedded, but at the same time as telling me they had no record of the group, the email I got from them said it appeared to come from a legitimate group. Which is confusing. Did anyone else in Perth get this email, or know if the group involved has any legitimacy?
Thanks, Glenn
Hi @Glenn266,
Thank you for bringing this out here.
If Airbnb support mentioned they have no record of the group, I would treat the email as suspicious and avoid interacting with it further.
I’d strongly suggest not clicking on any of the links and simply ignoring the email. It’s always better to stay on the safe side, especially when something is asking for personal.
Hi @Glenn266 👋
Welcome to the Community Center. Are you part of a Local Host Club for your area? I'd like to tag in a host from Western Australia who may be able to help: @Bec3748 - did you get an email like this?
Hi @Glenn266 - a little update for you! I checked in with our Community Manager for Australia and New Zealand who confirmed this is a host-led event from our Western Australia Host Club.
