Guest cancelled reservation 3 hours before check-out??!!

Our guest cancelled a two night reservation just 3 hours before checkout. We had already been paid out for the reservation. Now when I look at my calendar, the reservation has disappeared (though the payout still shows on our page). She did request a $50 "refund" for part of the stay, which we will likely not give.

My question, why would a guest "cancel" the reservation at that point?

She won't get a "refund" due to our policy. Just wanting to make sure she hasn't figured out some "glitch" in the system that will enable her to get money back/refund, without our approving it.

She gave kind words, and thanks, for the place. No troubles while here (though there were some cryptic, dishonest descriptions of what she was doing while here in town). It all seemed weird. We've only been hosting since late Sept, so just trying to learn, be cautious here.

Did you ask the guest why she cancelled the reservation (which is ofcourse rather meaningless on day of check-out) and why she thinks she is entitled to a refund ?

@Michelle-and-Brian1 why did she request a refund? It's possible she just made a mistake, or it's possible she's misguided and thinks the cancellation will trigger a refund, or it's possible she's going to complain to Airbnb about something and try to get them to overrule you and give her the refund, using the cancellation as evidence of her dissatisfaction -- which is ludicrous of course, but Airbnb CS is extremely unpredictable.

@Michelle-and-Brian1  most of my guests check-out a few hours before 11:00 (our check-out time) and none of them ever requested a refund for these few hours 😄

Just decline, yes, ABB is unpredictable but this is ridiculous...
