We're still reasonably new to hosting and have given great reviews to all our guests. However we would prefer not to host our last guests again. If we say no to would you host them again in our review, does the guest see that?
@Helena-and-Ray0 the guest doesn't see it, but please also remember that neither do other hosts, which is why it's important to be honest in your written review. Also, other hosts only see star ratings if they have instant book enabled.
Just a suggestion, rate accurately, but qualify it by saying "Not a good fit". This will not disparage the guest, but will still give other hosts a pause for thought and review.
@Helena-and-Ray0 Great guests are deserving of great reviews. But when you get an objectionable guest, please don't shy away from leaving an honest written review- other hosts need to be made aware of problem guests.
You don't have to go into the gritty details or be nasty, but do be factual. If the guest left a mess behind them, a statement like "Attention to cleaning up after themselves would have been appreciated" isn't an attack on the guest, but it alerts other hosts to what happened and expresses your experience. "I" and "we" statements are useful when writing a review for a bad guest. "We felt disrespected by the guest's behavior" rather than "This guest was disrepectful"- you are warning other hosts without labelling the guest as this or that.
