May Cancellations

Hi all, just wondering if an other hosts are having a similar experience to me. I’m in Australia and have been Airbnbing out my property in rural Queensland for close to a year, with some success. We’re fortunate to have rarely had many weekends not booked and many longer stays. Then suddenly in the last couple of weeks we’ve had a big string of cancellations, to the extent it has wiped out just about all of our May bookings (and even having some replacement bookings also cancel). I even just turned on the smart pricing, to optimise bookings, but things have started going worse (of course unrelated!)

Possibly a silly question - but is anyone else experiencing this? I can speculate about economic trends changing, but this has been such a rapid and noticeable shift in circumstances it’s making me question whether there’s something going on I don’t know about!

Most of our listings, with the exception of a couple with longer term bookings for professionals have been almost empty.  This coincided with travel restrictions opening up.  I hope it rebounds.
The quality of the guests we have had has been abysmal lately too and I attribute that to lowering the price even a little.  I’m now at the point that if I can afford it, they will stay empty instead of taking terrible guests.
