Hello everyone! 😊
Welcome to the Community Center! 👋 I'm @Elisa , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca @Bhumika @Alex @Emilie and we are thrilled to have you join us.
Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:
@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I have been on the Community Center for 7+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling🚲, playing football⚽, and travelling🌏 . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.
@Bhumika : 🌍 I was born in Gujarat, India 🇮🇳 , and shifted to Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 last year! 📷 I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. 🌆 When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.
@Paula : I am from Colombia 🇨🇴 and currently living in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance 💃) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries 🌎 and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking 🚲 and hiking 🏔.
@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist 🌿 and like to minimise my impact on the planet 🌎 as well as volunteering in my local community. I love sea swimming 🌊 yoga on the beach 🧘 and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! 🙌
@Elisa : I was born in Italy 🇮🇹 and as a lover of unique experiences—from exploring the streets of Rome🇮🇹 , Paris 🇫🇷, and Toronto 🇨🇦 to appreciating timeless art and cuisine—I'm here to blend the old with the new.
@Alex : I'm originally from Spain 🇪🇸, but my passion for traveling made me move to Toronto🇨🇦 this year to explore the culture and add another unforgettable experience to my journey ✈️. I'm also passionate about all kinds of sports ⚽️ (especially football, in which I played at a semi-professional level) and love to discover new dishes everywhere I go. 🥘
@Emilie : I was born in France 🇫🇷, raised in French Polynesia 🌺 and Morocco 🇲🇦, and have settled in the UK for 14 years now! On evenings and weekends, you will find me spending time with my dog, working on a jigsaw, or trying my hand at some new cuisine. 🍲
Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Warm regards🌻,
Elisa

Hello everyone!
My name is Stephanie and I live in Massachusetts. I am newer to hosting as I just started last June.
Something nice about our listing is its proximity to the ocean, lighthouse and downtown harbor area (walkable!).⚓
Looking forward to being a part of this community!
Welcome to the community! It's nice to have you here 🙂
Since you're new to hosting, I would recommend that you ask the Community for listing critique as it could be very helpful receiving feedback from fellow Hosts. Read more on how to ask listing critique by clicking here👈
I hope this helps!

Hello everyone,
My name is Michael, and I’ve been hosting and managing short and long-term rentals in the Reno, Lake Tahoe, Truckee and Donner markets for several years. I run Duvoire, a boutique management company focused on creating high-quality guest experiences while helping homeowners maximize revenue and protect their investment.
I originally got into hosting after struggling to find reliable management for my own properties. That experience shaped how I work today: clear communication, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to treating every home as if it were my own. I enjoy helping owners navigate local regulations, set up their listings, streamline operations, and elevate the overall guest experience.
I joined the Community Center to learn from other hosts, share what I’ve picked up along the way, and connect with people who care about providing great hospitality. If anyone ever has questions about hosting in the Reno-Tahoe region, pricing strategy, operations, or property setup, I’m always happy to share what I know.
Looking forward to meeting more of you here and contributing to the community!
Hi @Michael10300!👋
Welcome to the community! It’s great to have you here 🙂
We’d love to hear about the challenges you faced with the management company that ultimately led you to start hosting yourself, as well as any tips you’ve picked up along the way.
You can share your experiences and tips by starting a new conversation by clicking here or on the "Post" button in the upper right hand corner (if using a computer) 🙂
Hello everyone - my name is Tom, and I’m the founder of Asili Crest Group. I’ve spent much of my professional life travelling internationally in senior commercial roles, staying in everything from exceptional hotels to disappointing short-term rentals. Those experiences shaped a clear view of what truly matters to guests: comfort, reliability, thoughtful design, and hosts who genuinely care about the stay they deliver.
Although I’ve been fortunate to visit most continents, Africa—and Kenya in particular—was a much more recent discovery for me. From my first visit, I was drawn in by Kenya’s climate, the warmth of its people, the food, the wildlife, and the richness of its cultures and history. What began as curiosity quickly turned into a genuine connection.
That connection led me to make a significant life change. I relocated to Kenya and set up a small hospitality company with the aim of creating calm, well-run homes for travelers, while also building a business that supports local jobs and skills. Each apartment is personally designed and professionally managed, with a strong focus on reliability, sleep quality, and ease of living.
We’re still early in our Airbnb journey, but the response so far has been encouraging, and I’m enjoying learning from both guests and fellow hosts along the way. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community and look forward to contributing, learning, and continuing to improve the experience we offer.
Attached is a copy of our operating model and a link lies below to our properties, for those who might like to take a look.
Thank you for the warm welcome.

looking forward to learning more from the community
Hello,
Glad to be here and looking forward to learning from this community. We’re fairly new hosts and opened our home in late October 2025 in a small town. We honestly weren’t sure what to expect starting out, but we’ve been fortunate to stay booked early on and are enjoying the learning process so far.
We’re actively refining our listing — photos, amenities, and especially ideas for our backyard/outdoor space — and trying to be thoughtful about what actually adds value for guests versus just adding “stuff.”
I’m here to learn from experienced hosts, share what we’re discovering along the way, and get better at creating a comfortable, well-run space for guests. Appreciate the openness of this group and excited to be part of the conversations.
Hi @DiMingo1 😊,
Welcome to the community!
It sounds like you’ve had a great start. 😍
What’s one outdoor feature you’re thinking of adding to your backyard space?
-----
@Elisa Thanks for the welcome! I'm planning to build a 12x12 deck pergola and add a fire pit to create a cozy focal point for guests. I've uploaded some photos of the space with my rough sketch. Because the property has a slight decline towards the back, I won't be able to attach the pergola to the existing deck. Instead, I'm planning it as a freestanding structure further out in the yard. I'd love your thoughts on whether this layout makes sense for the space!
Hi @DiMingo1 😊,
Thank you for sharing these pictures!
You have so much space to work with, it’s going to be beautiful 😍

Hi! I’m Amanda, and I live in Salmon, Idaho. In my free time, I love hiking, going to the gym, exploring new hot springs, and playing with my 3-year-old son who keeps me on my toes. I’m also a co-host of two properties here, conveniently located near the Goldbug Hot Springs trailhead—a 3-mile round-trip hike that leads to stunning views and relaxing hot pools. If you haven’t been yet, I’d highly recommend checking it out and staying at our place if it’s available!
Hi @Amanda3346 😊,
Thank you for sharing this lovely introduction here.
I love hiking too! What’s your favorite place to go?
Wishing you a wonderful end of the year!
