Welcome to the Community Center! 👋  I'm @Elisa , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca @Bhumika @Emilie and we are thrilled to have you join us.

@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I have been on the Community Center for 7+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling🚲, playing football⚽, and travelling🌏 . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe. 

@Bhumika :  🌍 I was born in Gujarat, India 🇮🇳 , and shifted to Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 last year! 📷 I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. 🌆 When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.

@Paula : I am from Colombia 🇨🇴 and currently living in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance 💃) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries 🌎 and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking 🚲 and hiking 🏔.

@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist 🌿 and like to minimise my impact on the planet 🌎 as well as volunteering in my local community.  I love sea swimming 🌊 yoga on the beach 🧘‍ and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! 🙌 

@Emilie : I was born in France 🇫🇷, raised in French Polynesia 🌺 and Morocco 🇲🇦, and have settled in the UK for 14 years now! On evenings and weekends, you will find me spending time with my dog, working on a jigsaw, or trying my hand at some new cuisine. 🍲

Hi everyone,

My name is Von, and I've been hosting on Airbnb for about 7 months. My wife and I operate a duplex rental, which has been performing well, and we're excited to have recently achieved Superhost status.

I'm joining the community to learn from experienced hosts, share insights, and get advice on navigating the challenges that come with hosting. I'm particularly interested in best practices, guest management, review disputes, property protection, and strategies for long-term success.

While I'm still getting settled in, I've enjoyed connecting with guests and learning from the conversations and shared experiences here.

One thing that's important to me is creating an environment centered on cleanliness, calmness, and simplicity. I appreciate low-key, intentional décor that promotes a peaceful atmosphere, and I value consistent communication because it helps build trust, clarity, and strong relationships.

I'm looking forward to engaging with more members, exchanging ideas, and contributing to meaningful discussions within the community. Thanks again for the welcome!

What do you usually recommend your guests to do?

One way we like to help our guests feel at home is by sharing recommendations for local brunch spots, hidden gems, and favorite neighborhood restaurants. Since we have a good knowledge of the city and surrounding areas, we're always happy to point guests in the right direction.

If guests are looking for something specific, we may even do a little research on their behalf to help them find the best options for dining, entertainment, or local attractions. We believe that consistent communication and personalized recommendations can make a stay much more enjoyable.

I live on the island of Vieques in Puerto Rico with more than 18,000 cuerdas of unbuilt open space and more than 100 beaches within 35 km.  After travelling for many years on most of the continents (still missing Antarctica) and living on a few of them,  I am now hosting and co-hosting myself, here on this paradise of an island with free roaming horses and a bioluminescent bay.

I have never been to Puerto Rico, but I hope I can visit soon.

Were you born and raised there? How many listings are you managing so far?

It is magical, I hope you can visit soon too!   I was not born and raised here, my family lived here one block over and I have visited for more than 50 years, but have only lived here full time for the past 6 years.   I manage 7 listings so far and find my many years of travelling to be useful in my hosting.  Have you been to other US territories?

Well, I am biased, lolol but I love it here locally, and the US Virgin Islands are close, so close I can see them on a clear day!  PR and USVI are both very easy to visit, same US Dollar, etc. and are lovely!   Thank you!

I do have help, one amazing person on the exact other side of the world 12 hours time difference, to help us cover guest issues that come during my sleep time 10pm to 6am, and there are 2 of us here in Vieques, PR,  who are on messages and we arrange it to have one person available when the other is not, so we have close to 24/7 coverage.  It's not perfect because of life and 7 days in a week, but it's has never more than an hour or two at most before we respond and our guests can call us 24/7 if we haven't responded within minutes if it's urgent and each of the 3 of us all have clear information on what is worth waking any one of us up! We have multiple cleaners and a handymen available, and we have a bookkeeper for local tax compliance, record keeping, etc.  I travelled for work, working with special needs children, all over the world (Europe, Africa, China, Australia, New Zealand, and more) for many years before the pandemic changed travel for years and we settled here.  My many years of staying in many AIrbnb's all over the world gave me lots of ideas about what I would really want in an Airbnb and we try to provide that.   Of course, we're not a perfect fit for everyone, so we're not always 5 stars, but we're 4.96 currently with over 470 reviews and I love to host and meet people from all over!
