Public Health Acts & Lockdowns - Covid 19

Dear fellow valued member of society.

With lockdowns all over the world as a result of Covid 19/ Coronavirus, there's hope to end lockdowns.

Look up and read your local Public Health Act, Code of Practice/ Guidelines relating to "Infectious Diseases" and see if  your government has adhered to the law.

One can't be detained for more than 72 hrs if one has or may have a reportable Infectious Disease.

One should not be detained , or confined to an arbitrary lockdown if one has no symptoms of an Infectious disease.

It's long been common practice, and best practice, to stay home if one has symptoms of viruses which generally take 14 days to recover.

Do what a reasonable person in one's circumstances is "reasonable".

Ask for a copy of the documents your Government has relied on that has resulted in your country lock down situation.

Ensure they are placed online and where all people can read them.

See if the same researchers names are on them across the world, or other.

It is  for the betterment of all if these were readily available to disclose how World Health Organisation & others came to the conclusions they have.

A return to Common sense methods of reporting diseases is needed with urgency to ensure the wider economy & every individuals physical health & mental wellness is restored.

@Helen427 are you suggesting people defy lockdowns?

@Mike-And-Helen0

No I don't suggest that, but to read the relevant Public Health Act in one's country, in conjunction with the laws of the land.

There's legal rights we all have.

There's no specific limit as an example the distance one can go from one's home, nor is there any person we must report to where we go.

Since I posted this we here in New Zealand have finally had some common sense and common law rights back into our favour, people are allowed to go swimming, surfing and the like, so long as we know how to...Which of course a "reasonable person in our circumstances would expect to be able to do"...

Here's hoping common sense prevails in other countries...

So go to Cambridge Terrace or King Edward Parade, Victoria street 😉...and have a dip, picnic with your family or bike ride or whatever you usually do there exercising common sense..

@Helen427 @Mike-And-Helen0  some countries have passed temporary emergency laws....

Hello, @Marit-Anne0 , yes it's been undertaken under both our Civil Defence Emergency Act, and of course common laws, here in New Zealand and under  State of Emergency Acts in other countries.

What are your laws relating to use of "imitation tobacco" products in Norway?

Can they be used in the workplace? In public places? Bars and Restaurants? Aged care facilities by those living or working there?

It's what's lying under the surface what this is all about... WHO and our governments have legal obligations to protect the Public Health of all, including that of those who use, or may passively inhale these substances going about their daily lives.

It's most unfortunate all around it wasn't addressed around 20 years ago with follow up factual research of "imitation tobacco" which contains unknown contaminates that are understood to originate from China.

How's things in Norway?

@Helen427  I do not know and I am not into conspiracy theories.  Tobacco is well beyond the issue we are now dealing with.

Sadly @Marit-Anne0  it's not a conspiracy theory at all.

Brazil, Thailand and India amongst other countries passed urgent legislation mid last year to help prevent the further risks to "Public Health" as a direct result of contaminated "imitation tobacco" and targeted markets without considering impacts on public health. - no best before, use by dates, high benzoic acid rates which contribute to burnt lungs, respiratory problems and deaths and nicotine is above EU regulations, etc

May I suggest you read the facts as they are online and all tied in together.

Philip Morris the tobacco company pulled out of a contract mid year 2019 as there were serious concerns with JUUL who are selling there "imitation tobacco" products to under age markets and contamination.

It's been widely reported in USA the links as I'm sure some in the USA can confirm here in CC.

Thanks for your understanding

Note the last paragraph in the Conclusion.

If the link isn't working, simply use the words in search engine and it will pop up.

@Mike-And-Helen0  there's some very informative and helpful legal aspects discussed in here...

It helps having a background in law...which of course there's cross overs including basic legal rights.

Take care, and remember what a reasonable person would do in one's circumstances.

@Helen427  Mike is a law lecturer.

I don't have any problem with lockdown. I feel it is my civic duty at the moment. I only wish our government hadn't been so slow about it.

@Helen427 it seem NZ is managing this this crisis very well because of an early and comprehensive shelter-at-home policy. I would think it wise for most other countries to copy that model.

Appeal Filed over Legality of Coronavirus Lockdown - September 2020

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/122795318/appeal-filed-over-legality-of-coronavirus-lockdo...

Note this is an appeal into the other parts of the Judicial decision in the Judicial Review that Andrew Borrowdale in his wisdom undertook in New Zealand.

There's 10 days for the Crown to lodge submissions.

Looks like the recent NZ election was a complete repudiation of Jacinda Arden's lockdown policies.
