Quick Community Center question

Hi,

Another member and I are trying to use the private messaging feature. He has received a private message from another Community Center user before, but neither of us can currently find an option to start a private conversation with each other.

Could you please point me to where this feature is located or let me know how we can access it?

Locate the community member, hover over profile photo and choose "sent message".

I’ve actually tried that several times already, but the Send message option does not appear when I hover over host profiles.

I tested it through both the browser and the Airbnb app in case the feature was only available on one of them, but I still couldn’t find a private messaging option on any of the host profiles I checked.

That’s why I’m wondering whether the feature may be restricted for newer Community Center accounts or require a certain account level before it becomes available.

Perhaps the message system is kind of restricted for new members, to avoid spam?

That could definitely be the case, especially if the restriction is there to prevent spam from newer accounts. I’m trying to confirm whether there is a specific account level, waiting period, or setting required before private messaging becomes available.

Probably because you're not a host or a guest @Sherif76  what are you trying to contact another member about privately ?

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Most of the time I would be speaking with hosts. I was able to find another appropriate way to continue the conversation with the previous host, but going forward I would prefer to keep these conversations within the Community Center whenever possible.

Is there a private messaging feature available between Community Center members, particularly between newer accounts and hosts? If so, could you please let me know where I can access it or whether there are any account-level requirements before it becomes available?

Thank you very much for helping with this. I can confirm that the private messaging option is now available on my account.

I really appreciate you taking the time to look into it and make this possible for me. This will make it much easier to continue conversations with hosts privately while keeping everything within the Community Center.
