Security deposit

Hoping someone can help with this question. When charging a security deposit do Airbnb  charge the guest in their payment? Or do I ask the fee then I Reimburse the guest once the trip is over??

A security deposit, set by yourself in the listing, is not charged from the guest at time of booking.

But iwhen the security deposit is set by Airbnb, other charging rules apply.
