Unauthorized large groups

Unauthorized large groups

We recently had a booking for 3 individuals but what we saw on our front porch cameras on day 1 around midnight was 17 additional people mostly teenagers and adults entering the home with backpacks, blankets, and pillows. There was some making out on the porch by a young couple and a lot of people dropping other people off. Nothing illegal, outside at least, but nothing of good character either going on and our alarm bells were ringing. Had that feeling??

We called airbnb who I quote said, they would "deal with this immediately" and "urgently" by assigning a trained "ambassador".

They did absolutely nothing.

We got an email the next morning saying they would call us for more information exactly 9-10 hours after the guest checks out, or 2 days after our initial complaint. We had separate guests staying downstairs who could hear them. The home is in a very quiet, stable, and nice neighborhood. Neighbors were wondering what was happening.

Has anyone experienced this utter lack if concern by airbnb who have been proposing to crack down on unauthorized large groups and parties?

If so, love to hear how you tackled the unauthorized large group or party gathering as well as dealt with the negligence of airbnb.

Ultimately, we ended up having to call the police to assert control of our property who fortunately handled it very well. We live in another state.

@Tiffany-and-Tyler0 "Looking for an educating conversation. I want to learn from SUCCESSFUL others how to best handle similar situations in the future"

So, you came here looking for an 'educating conversation'. But when you got just that, from experienced, successful hosts whose regular contributions on this platform are well respected, you reject their input. And call them racist and illiterate. No words.

I have dealt with a situation similar in nature to yours, and the first thing I did was get in my vehicle and head to my listing, while on speakerphone with Airbnb to cancel the booking. I provided surveillance camera evidence of the extra guests and the party in development. My listing maximum occupance is 5, the guest booked for 4, and by the time I showed up, there were 16. It would have only grown from there had I not intervened. The only thing Airbnb could do to help was to cancel the booking so I could evict the guests. Even if I had been unable to reach Airbnb, it was still up to me to put boots on the ground and do something to address the situation. I can safely say it would not have involved 'mediation'. Guests who throw a party/ break significant rules are NOT remaining, under any circumstances.

Thank you for that example of how you successfully dealt with the situation.

Did they airbnb request the camera footage or did you offer it?

In such a situation has airbnb ever contacted the guest while still on your property?

I'm from India. I had a booking for 1, but on his arrival day 3 more came in after he checked in. I informed the guest to pay additional charges per person for cleaning only. Because didn't inform in advance of his intention to invite unidentified people in the property.

Thank you appreciate that thought. Could be useful for a few unregistered guests that show up.
