When I thought this platform couldn’t get messier or worse, Airbnb find a new way to lower my expectations, 1 month ago I hosted a complicated guest, the guest asked me for a super early check in because it was raining and they had to check out of their previvouus place, and I as a superhost did everything I could to accomodate and make happen, I gave them the option to check in the morning, but the cleaning team in the rush forgot to do 2 things, and the guest became a pain in the ass so I offered them great options, they went for a refund in the cleaning fee.
Couple of days later they broke a wood table, I wasn't around to check it so I told them not to worry and that we would resolve it later, then a couple of days later they checked out, and when I arrived at the house to check everything I found several beers around and also trash leaking a deep black weird fluid and also blood or something, leaking all over my marble floor tiles, we naturally cleaned and disinfected, but the floor was ruined, something in the trash bleached the marble and ruined it.
So I went ahead to charge the guest at least a portion of the cost of changing the floor, and also for the broken wood table, the guest rejected and for the first time ever after hosting 4 years I had to claim the insurance, the cost of a new table was 200$ and for the marble floor it would be several hundreds more, between buying the tiles for the whole floor that has to be replaced,shipping to my remote location, then paying people to do the work and then of course having to block the calendar for 3-6 days ( losing between 300-600$ )
At first airbnb gave 199$ which barely covers the table, the case was still opened as we discussed the fair cost of everything else, the person handling my case had the audacity to accuse me of ME being the one who bleached the floor while cleaning, as if I don’t have years of experience taking care of my house, and as if I hadnt sent them photos of the trash and weird liquid, after severals days of wasting my time they decided to close my case all of the sudden, I received the miserable 199$ along the payment of 2 other reservations, now Sunday 29th December I checked my upcoming payouts, and now I suddenly have a -199$ debt with the date of Chirstmas 25 December, and thhe reason: that resolution case
What is this?! Airbnb has made SEVERAL thousands of dollars from comissions of my reservations and comissions charged to my for using the platform, and their supposed insurance policy which comes from our comissions doesnt insure even what they payed me to insure !
