Hello, I would like to share an experience I had at my property. A guest booked a stay, and after they checked out, I learned from my neighbors that they had used the place for a hook-up/rendezvous without telling me anything. I am currently dealing with the neighbors and the authorities regarding this issue. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. Best regards,
Hello @Yanis75, I'm very sorry to hear about this. As a first step, I recommend contacting the Support team. They can help you understand the situation and advise you on the best way to approach it.
Please keep us posted.
Hi Paula
I contacted support, but they told me it isn't covered by Airbnb's AirCover and that they don't have a solution for it.
I’m a little confused. First, how does your neighbor know this was a hookup/rendezvous? And second, why would it matter? If they were two consenting adults, I’m not sure what the problem is here. Unless they violated your house rules or left the place a mess, there doesn’t seem to be a reason to be involved in what the purpose of your guests were for reserving your place. Or are you saying that this was illegal activity…such as prostitution? I’m not trying to be mean, I’m truly trying to understand what happened to cause you to get Airbnb support involved in the situation. Can you give us more details about what happened?
@Yanis75 . Now that its been reported to local authorities you need to find out what local laws may have been broken. Then if valid, implement ways to avoid it happening again. Was this a one night reservation for a single, but a visitor arrived?. Or were there multiple non booking visitors throughout the night? Was excessive noise part of the complaint? Damage to neighbours property?
You may need external cameras so you can try and see the trouble before your neighbour, who will be even more vigilant now.
Lastly, I suggest you use Host Circle to communicate sensitive guest situations in future and for seeking advice from fellow hosts.
