Bike rental to guests

Hi There,

It's my partner and I's first time hosting guests at our Amsterdam apartment next week and hoping to get some advice on bike rentals.

The guests have requested bikes and we would be more than happy to lend them ours, however we rent them through a rental company and if they loose the keys it costs 300 euros to replace per bike.

Has anyone else done this before, and can offer some advice on best way to go about it?

Thank you so much 🙂

Personally I would just direct guests to companies offering this rather than get involved @Clementine28

@Clementine28 To echo @Helen3 Amsterdam has a lot of options for bike rentals, and your guests would be best served by choosing the one that's the right fit for their needs and budget. If by sheer coincidence that happens to be the one through which you lend your bikes, that's great - but when the guests are reviewing your home, they're not going to think of it separately from their experience with the bike rental. If anything goes wrong with that - even if it's totally beyond your control - your one and only review for your brand-new listing will be a bad one.

In general, I don't recommend offering any services in conjunction with your listing that you aren't in complete control of.

@Clementine28 , I agree with what has been said before.  I do not provide anything beyond the accommodation, but I do send my guests who are staying a few days a listing of where to go white water rafting, horseback riding, ziplining, etc., so that they can contact those places and make arrangements for their entertainment.  I make sure that the businesses that I recommend are in good standing, have reasonable rates and provide good service.  It removes me from any liability for these services.  Provide your guests with a list of service providers just as you would a list of restaurants.  Do not lend them your personal bikes or any other equipment that may be used outside of the house.
