We just activated a listing for our new rental cottage. I understand that there are metrics that correlate number of views with actual bookings. If I post my new rental on my FB page to show my FB friends and hundreds look, but don't book, will I be messing up my metrics? Is this a good or bad idea?

Actually we don’t know the correct answer, as the algorithm is a magic miracle.

But I would guess:

A listing which has many bookings compared to clicks is a valuable listing.

The search algorithm tries to show suitable listings to the guest. If there is listing with many clicks but poor bookings, there might be something wrong with the listing, i.e. incorrect or incomplete descriptions.

On the other hand, the system should know from where the clicks are coming, from an Airbnb search or from a direct call.

=> Hard to say – but I would try to avoid it.
