Hello everyone, we're planning to randomly select one of the first five bookings for our new vacation home and give the winner a week at a special rate of 2022 Euros. Is there a way to do that on Airbnb -- I guess by reducing the price in hindsight?
Thanks for your advice and all best,
Mathis
You can set a custom price for a specific week in the discount section of the listing.
But Airbnb is not a casino and guest probably will not appreciate this "lottery"
Hi @Emiel1 , thanks for the quick reply -- I've actually just been informed by Airbnb support that prices can be adjusted after a booking has been made.
Thanks also for your feedback on our plan -- quite frankly, though, I don't see how this would be different than any other enticement with discounts. We've actually received quite a bit of positive feedback from others on the idea, so we'll see how it goes.
Hi Mathis,
Congrats on your new vacation home! Your grand opening lottery idea sounds exciting, and yes, you can make it work on Airbnb. Here’s how:
You can’t directly run a lottery through Airbnb’s system, but you can pick a winner from your first five bookings and adjust their price afterward. Once you get those bookings, randomly choose one (like drawing a name from a hat). Then, contact Airbnb support to lower that winner’s rate to 2022 Euros for their week. Support can adjust prices even after a booking is confirmed I’ve heard they’re pretty flexible with stuff like this for special promotions.
Another option: Set up your listing with a custom discount for one week at 2022 Euros in advance Let your first five guests know about the lottery in your listing description or a welcome message, then tell the winner they got the special rate. This keeps it clear upfront.
Just a tip—guests might love the fun of a lottery, but make sure they know it’s a bonus, not a gamble. Keep it simple and positive! Good luck with your launch!
Best,
