This month a guest asked for 5 nights. He extended his stay twice. After his first night he told me he had written to the local newspaper, complaining about how he was escorted out of a local hotel by the police because he didn't want to leave. He seemed to be very interested in my computer and cell phone which made me very uncomfortable. I started to take my memory stick and then my computer with me to my bedroom each night. One morning I woke up to find him attempting to use my TV for an Amazon order.
He also said he was depressed because he had traveled from Europe to make contact with a girl he had met online, who rejected him, her parents forbade him in their house.
The night before he left he said he was worried he would not be packed and ready to leave the next morning. I informed him that he would have to leave. The next morning he was making no effort to pack and said he needed to sleep. I called Airbnb. They said he had until 11 am to leave. I relayed the info to him. He began strutting around, making strange noises, visibly angry. It frightened me. I told him if he didn't leave by 11 am I would have to call the police.
He finally placed all of his junk on my front porch and waited his a ride. As he waited he threatened me that he was going to give me a bad review.
Later, I received a message from Airbnb that they had refunded him $150 for the trauma that I had caused, it would not be taken out of the reduced rate I had given to him, but I was reminded (even though I am 5 stars) of the importance of being a good host.
This morning I found out he is still in the area and I am very nervous about it. His Visa runs out the 1st of September and I will be breathing a sigh of relief. I am checking my bank accounts often and am still scared. I have also been fearful of giving him the review he deserves for fear he will retaliate, but still am concerned someone else will have to deal with him. Any advice will be welcome.
