Home Insurance for Airbnb

Hi Folks,

Newbie to all this here !

Probably this topic has been visited on numerous occasions, however, can I get some advice from you seasoned hosts ?

I presently have buildings and contents insurance on my property of which I have now listed on Airbnb and taking bookings from May1st 2026 . I have recently found out that it is far better to have a policy that covers Airbnb in particular.  I have called my insurance company who state that they will not insure me for this cover. I have thereafter called a specialist (Pikl.com) who offer this cover for a flat fee on a yearly basis. Called my insurance company back who refuse to work with Pikl using their cover as a "bolt on".  

Do any of you good people know of an insurance company ...one with actual people to talk to...no bots or drop box filling out....that accept working with Pikl as a bolt on to taking out a new contents and building insurance with them ?

Prosper is the best for STR insurance- covers so much like loss of income appliance failure and repairs . They are a bit pricey but paid much more when a guests had sexy time on my sink and broke it. Had to block my calendar for 3 days until it was repaired. Airbnb gave me $150 from guests/aircover and Proper coverage awarded me abt

$1200  which totally covered everything

I'm in Scotland, does prosper Insurance cover this ?  ( by the way what does STR mean? )  Thanks for your reply, much appreciated,.
