How things change for Istanbul / Turkey Hosts

Hi everyone,

There are new regulations coming out in Turkey. What will be your opinions about Hosting in Turkey?

I'm looking for a solution but it seems impossible to get permission from all flats in my apartment.

Regards,

ilker

Hi @Ilker8

There has definitely been some recent discussion about this on the Community Center.

You can find a conversation here that might be helpful.

@Onur103 and @Julide-and-Alper0 are also Host in Turkey and may be able to share some advice or thoughts on the topic.

Dear @Ilker8 ;

this is the only rule from government side. So you have to make it. Otherwise it will be problematic. As far as I know government will request details from Airbnb and may be Airbnb will only accept the listings that has License Number from Governemnt. Thats why the only hard and one issue is to get approval from the house owners.

You can find more details here.

I've temporarily deactivated my listings even though I'm the land owner of my own houses,
I believe we were becoming a real threat against the Hotel owners in Turkey, or they just wanted to choose us for blaming someone, instead of seeing each of them became scammers against the tourists just like the taxi drivers.
Now there will be serious punishments from the government against us if we keep doing Airbnb,
I hope someday Airbnb will see this and start taking an action, I've spoke with the support but I don't think if they are even aware of the issue.

I really thought about taking the license, but if you research a little bit, you will see that's almost impossible to get it, even though you get the license it will not be even worth it to do it when all of those taxes over taxes are included in the prices.
Airbnb has been a perfect extra revenue and a perfect opportunity to meet lovely people, but I believe that was it.
I will be following the news from now on, but I'm pretty sure there will be no changes in the close future due to our corrupted policies.
Best Regards,
Baris.

Hi there @Ilker8, I want to ask about whether or not you have found a solution yet to this problem. I also have this same problem and I'm not sure what to do so I'd appreciate it if you could help me out.
