How to Confirm if Airbnb Hosting is Allowed in India (UP)

Hello everyone,

I’m Gaurav, hosting in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. I have a concern and would really appreciate your guidance.

How can we verify whether Airbnb hosting is legally allowed in India, specifically in Uttar Pradesh? I’ve heard that in some societies or residential complexes, builders and associations have stopped Airbnb operations, which makes me worried about the legality of hosting in my area.

If anyone here has experience or knowledge about the local rules, government guidelines, or any official source where we can confirm whether hosting is legally permitted, please share. It will be a great help not just for me but for many other new hosts as well.

Hi Gaurav, Vaibhav here Airbnb CL from UP, India. Running a Homestay is legal iin UP given you have the right documents & licensing. Nidhi certification along with UP tourism homestay/BnB license is required to legally run the operations. NOC from RWA/HOA may also be required along with municipal licenses - please check this locally.
