I need to understand the following-
We own a vacation rental in Surfside TX. According to Airbnb and Texas comptroller, Airbnb is collecting the 6% occupancy tax from guests on my behalf. However, when I look at gross payout information it says 0 collected occupancy taxes. I have emailed, called, etc for months with no resolution.
I need to know how to set up my listing so that Airbnb collects and remits the 6% state and collects the local 4% and passes it through to me so that i can pay the local. I have tried adding a tax under professional hosting tools, but I only see that it collects the 4% rather than the total 10% from guests. (i tried it as a guest for my lising to see as well- only collected the added tax of 4% that I added. If i add the other 6% it comes directly to me as well, and I have to remit to the state. I want it to be easy like VRBO where they collect all 10%, submit the state 6% and pay me the other 4% for me to pay locally quarterly.
any help is greatly appreciated! TIA!! Becky
