As we now cant legally host after Wednesday, is it our responsibility to message guests or up to them to cancel. They can't expect to still come can they?
I personally don't have any bookings for November @Zoe317 , despite having been busy from 4 July resume till yesterday.
But if I did, I think I would message guests to remind them of the situation, and to invite THEM to cancel.(So that I am not penalised.) - After all, anyone booking in the current climate will have known they run the risk that government legislation can change at any time, so you could say it's 'their fault'?
- I did this last week with a guest who had just booked for the following day, a guest who was still in Italy at time of booking & who would have been breaking quarantine rules by coming to me for 2 days. So HE cancelled!
Obviously travelling on a jolly is off the menu again in the UK. - I'm not sure about the situation with folk who travel for work, those who need accommodation whilst working away from home have to stay somewhere ....
I read that travel for work is still permitted under the new UK lockdown guidelines. This includes international travel.
Yes, I know travel for work is permitted @Debra300 , it was just the rules re overnight stays when working that need fleshing out. These things are not always clearly stated (omitted) in the regulations, so can be a matter of interpretation.
You know much better than I, but since the guideline says that domestic travel is allowed for work, wouldn't that infer that people are staying somewhere outside of their normal residence while traveling for work?
Absolutely @Debra300 ! - And if anyone books with me, for work, in my homeshare I shall allow it, unless I read of any legislation to suggest I shouldn't! - Some might argue that private homes are no longer allowed visitors, other than a support bubble for single people.... But I hosted workers in health & social care in the first lockdown, & would do so again... or any other occupation that is still allowed to work!
