Managing property for a family member - can I list it under my name?

Hello I have been managing bookings for my MIL house in Northern Cyprus for couple of years. I would like to migrate the bookings to Air b&b now, but wondering if I can set it up under my name as its not my property but hers? I use to rent some rooms previously so I already have an account, or should I set it up under her name as she pays the income tax etc.

I agree with @Mike-And-Jane0  @Zuzana66 . It's much better in terms of taxes  to set the listing up under your MIL's  profile and add yourself as a cohost.

You will only pax tax on whatever percentage or fee you agree with your MIL for cohosting.

@Zuzana66 I would set it up under her name and then have you as a co-host. Principle reason is that  when Airbnb report the income to the authorities it will be in the correct name. The only thing a co host cannot do is raise claims for damage (I think).

Thank you for your help

When managing bookings for someone else's property on Airbnb, you have the option to do so under your own Airbnb account, but there are a few important considerations:

  1. Permission: Ensure that you have explicit permission from your mother-in-law (MIL) to list and manage her property on Airbnb. This is crucial to avoid any legal or ethical issues.

  2. Account Details: While you can use your own Airbnb account to manage the property, it's essential to accurately represent the property and its ownership. You might need to clarify in the property listing that you are managing it on behalf of the owner.

  3. Communication: Clearly communicate with your MIL about how the Airbnb account will be managed, including details like booking arrangements, pricing, and guest communication.

  4. Payment: Make sure that the payment arrangements are clear. Typically, Airbnb payments go directly to the account holder, so you may need to work out a system for transferring the earnings to your MIL.

Remember to thoroughly read Airbnb's terms of service and hosting guidelines to ensure compliance. If you encounter any specific questions or concerns during the setup process, reaching out to Airbnb's support can provide additional guidance.

@Arslan20  as you aren't a host are you using AI to come up with these rather strange responses?
