In answer to what I think Debra's question is, you do have to keep track of what VRBO charges your guest in the way of taxes and "purportedly" pays to the various tax agencies on your behalf. It is a lump sum to those entities and will not have any tax identification numbers or names as to which owners or properties are included in the payment. You will not receive any documentation verifying the tax payments have been made. Tax payments are not reflected on the 1099 either.
I have to file monthly, quarterly and annual "no tax owed as it is paid by AirBnB or VRBO" tax reports to my state, county and local municipality in order to have a paper trail in the event of an audit. You have to know which taxes are collected and paid by AirBnB and VRBO, what the percentages are and how to report the taxable income properly.
