I have spoken with the help centre about this but have not managed to get a clear idea. I live in France and we also have to charge 'the taxe de sejour' (holiday tax)- which is usually dealt with by airbnb. What I would like to understand is whether we only add the 15 1/2% to our existing price and that the cleaning - which is a one off cost is added separately as would be the taxe de sejour by airbnb?..... All help welcome...thanks
@Susan6572 How did the 3% host fee work? I assume the 15.5% will just apply in the same way as the old fee did. The cleaning fee will definitely attract a 15.5% charge.
In addition to Mike's answer, I wanted to add that the new pricing tool does not account for lodging or tourist taxes. If a host uses the service fee price adjustment tool to adjust for the increased service fee, it may raise the lodging/tourist tax base for percent-based taxes.. However if you have specific tax questions, it’s always a good idea to consult a local tax professional or review Airbnb’s tax help center.
