Hello!
I am a campsite owner in the Altai Republic, Russia.
Will I receive money from airbnb for staying guests who have previously paid for the booking? What do you need to do to get paid? Thanks!
@Vasiliy6 Good question. I think it's going to be a big problem. Both for Russian hosts and Russian guests.
This is just a disccussion forum for hosts and guests, so no one here can answer that- you'd have to speak to Airbnb customer service directly and ask to be escalated to someone in their accounts dept.
I suspect they don't have any answers at this point, either, though.
@Vasiliy6 You have a far better chance of being paid if the people of Russia encourage their leaders to stage a coup and remove Putin from power.
@Vasiliy6 It is possible that international transfers into Russian accounts will be held up by sanctions or severely devalued by the shifting exchange rates. This situation is changing by the hour, so it's unlikely that anyone can give you a definitive answer about what will become of the payments for your upcoming bookings.
At this time, I would probably snooze the Airbnb listing and stick to a listing platform that can process payments domestically.
"Airbnb Inc. Chief Executive Officer Brian Chesky said that U.S. sanctions on Russian banks have affected its ability to operate within the country and that “all things are on the table right now” with regard to voluntarily limiting Airbnb’s Russian operations"
Thanks!
The Bloomberg article has a pay wall. This is Airbnb's official communication: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/3206/regulations-impacting-financial-institutions-in-russia-and-...
