Payment

Payment

Greetings everyone. Why does Airbnb allow the dates in which someone enquires to be blocked. Is there a feature to ensure that someone pays upon reservation just like the previous years. If the feature is gone when did this change?

Hi Nontobeko,

Airbnb may temporarily block dates when a guest submits certain types of booking requests or while a reservation is awaiting payment or confirmation. This is done to avoid double bookings during the booking process.

In recent years, Airbnb has introduced several booking and payment changes, and in some cases guests may have a short period to complete payment or verification before the reservation is confirmed. During that time, the dates can remain temporarily unavailable.

If the dates stay blocked for an unusually long time or you're seeing this happen frequently, it's worth contacting Airbnb Support to check whether there is an issue with your listing or booking settings.

Has anyone else in the Community experienced the same behavior recently?

Thank you for your help @Snehal1 .

is there a way to remove the ability for the guest to have a short period of time to confirm a booking. Immediate payment to Airbnb upon confirming a booking is ideal without the waiting period.

Hi @Nontobeko7 ,

You're welcome. As far as I know, hosts can't disable the short payment/confirmation window for guests. That part of the booking process is controlled by Airbnb and may vary depending on the guest's payment method, verification status, or the country they're booking from.

If a guest doesn't complete the payment or verification within the allowed time, Airbnb will usually release the blocked dates automatically.

I agree that immediate payment at the time of booking would be preferable for hosts, especially during high-demand periods.
