Problem with Irish VAT number verification

I have tried to input my recently registered Irish VAT number on the platform and it continues to fail. I've tried every configuration of numbers with and without the IE prefix. I live in the UK and have tried different configurations of addresses all to no avail. All Airbnb do is tell me to consult with my tax authority, as if they've got my VAT number wrong. The same VAT number works fine on booking.com and VRBO. it's just Airbnb that rejects it. 

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Has anyone got a solution?
